Barwon had six players contribute more than 20 runs on the way to its total of 8-216 after its 50 overs.

Rob Lane was the pick of the Central Highlands’ bowlers with figures of 4-33 from 10 overs and he was well supported by all-rounder Jack Lalor who only took the one wicket, but was economical going for just 19 runs off his eight overs.

The Central Highlands openers put on a 42-run opening partnership to set a solid foundation for the innings.

At 2-101 the run-chase looked to be on track before wickets fell consistently for the Highlanders as it was bowled out for 205 with eight deliveries remaining. 

Jack Lalor top-scored with an impressive knock of 53, but there were not many other contributors as the under-18 side struggled to put together significant partnerships through the middle of its innings – as well as suffering three run outs.

Central Highlands will travel to Melbourne University to take on the Western Waves on Thursday in what will likely be its fourth and final round of the competition ahead of the finals series on Friday.
