“I got into makeup because I love film, especially horror and special effects, and always loved drawing, art, fashion and makeup but I wasn't particularly good at drawing, etc,” Ms Rose said.
After working as a freelance makeup artist for years, and completing a Diploma of Specialist Makeup at The Australian College of Hair & Beauty in 2012, she set up her own business last year.
With two independent features and a range of short films under her belt, she is now doing makeup for the cast of Japanese horror flick The Viper’s Hex. The entire cast is Japanese, and while some of those working on the production are from Australia, Ms Rose is the only person involved from Ballarat.
The film is based on an old Japanese folk tale and tragic love story about Kiyohime and Anchin and is set to be released on November 11.
