The chickens lived in Ms Alexander’s backyard until thieves crept into her property and stole the “plain white chickens” on Friday morning. The brazen theft has been captured by a security camera and has left Ms Alexander feeling shaken and ill.
“It’s devastated me. They’re like my kids. I’ve been very sick and the chickens are what have kept me on an even keel,” Ms Alexander said.
The footage shows two separate men walking into the property and leaving with the chickens.
“I have no idea why someone would want to steal chickens. I keep thinking someone has done something bad to them,” she said.
“I want them back, I just hope I will come home and find the girls sitting on the doorstep.”
Anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Victoria Street area on Friday morning should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
