A concert to raise funds for the Paramanathan family will be held on Sunday, January 29.
The family fled Sri Lanka in 2008 due to civil war and sought asylum in Australia in 2012 before resettling in Ballarat in 2013.
However, the family now faces deportation, with no assurances over their safety if they return to their home country.
A final plea for federal government ministerial intervention was denied last year.
Buninyong Brewery owner Merle Hathaway said another appeal was currently being prepared, with Ballarat Rural Australians for Refugees asking people to write short letters of community support to help their bid.
“This highly respected family, despite making considerable voluntary contributions to the Ballarat community, have not been able to secure rights to work or remain in Australia,” Ms Hathaway said.
“They are quite unsupported by government funding so various local groups, such as Ballarat Rural Australians for Refugees and Melbourne’s Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, provide for their basic living needs.”
The U3A Celtic Group will perform from 3pm at the 1850s bluestone brewery that overlooks the Buninyong lake.
They will be supported by recorder trio Measure for Measure.
Rose Turtle Ertler will also speak about her use of the arts to explore social justice issues, history and human endeavour.
Ms Ertler directed the Light at the end… production for Ballarat live art project, The 24 Hour Experience, as well as the the ongoing Rebel Elders community multi-arts project.
She will also perform original ukele compositions at the Music at the Brewery concert.
Admission is $15 for the concert and afternoon tea and there will also be door prizes and raffles.
