An imam charged with forcing a child into marriage has been dumped from his suburban Melbourne mosque.

Ibrahim Omerdic faced court on Friday charged with performing the marriage of a girl under the age of 16 to a 34-year-old man.
Mr Omerdic, 62, is alleged to have performed the ceremony on September 29 last year at the Bosnian mosque in Noble Park.
In a statement on Monday, the Islamic Council of Victoria and the Bosnian Islamic Society of Noble Park said Mr Omerdic was immediately sacked following his November 2016 arrest.
"His services were subsequently terminated after an investigation conducted by the Society management committee."
The statement said Mr Omerdic's marriage celebrant license had also been revoked.
"A new imam has been appointed," it said.
"To repeat, Mr Omerdic is no longer the imam of the Noble Park Mosque and has no role with the Society."
Mr Omerdic is on bail and will return to court next month.
The man who was allegedly married to the girl is charged with the same offence as Mr Omerdic, as well as one count of sexual penetration of a child under 16.
