Graham Daley from Hazelwood Stud is the type of owner trainers want in their stable. As Gary Nickson puts it: "He's just lucky."

"Every year we get a horse or two from him, and every year they are good. We had Sweet Kiss and Alpha Miss go early for them and this girl, Sweet Bouquet, is just the same," Nickson said.

"Graham buys good fillies at good prices and gets good horses."

Sweet Bouquet has plenty to live up to in Gimcrack winner Alpha Miss, who went on to a Golden Slipper, and Sweet Kiss' third in an Inglis Nursery, but Nickson holds the horse in high regard. She makes her debut in the opener at Randwick on Saturday following a couple of barrier trials, including a win in her latest at Warwick Farm.

Nickson has been monitoring the  $31,000 purchase from the Inglis Classic sale for signs she was training off. He plans to run the Dream Ahead filly in the Inglis Classic in three weeks, like a few of her rivals – The Mont, Ultramarine and Mossman Gorge, who will probably run at Canberra on Friday.

"She is a very big filly that is only going to get better with time and I kept looking at her and checking on her. I'm sure she is up to winning a race like this if everything is right, and I got a blood from her the other day and it was good," Nickson said. "We are looking at that Inglis race, that's why we are running her on Saturday: to get some prizemoney."

Sweet Bouquet is an $11 chance at Ladbrokes, which has made Team Hawkes-trained Eden Roc the $2.90 favourite, and that's the one Nickson thinks he has to beat.

"Hawkes' [horse] goes pretty good from what I have seen but I think this girl is up to going with them, especially from the good gate," Nickson said.

"She has been really good all the way through and both her trials were good, she just jumps and runs."

Sweet Bouquet has shown speed at both her barrier trials and Nickson was delighted with the report from Rachel King, who rode her at Warwick Farm.

"The first trial, she and another horse just took off and she did a good job to hold on," Nickson said. "When you have an opinion of them you want to see it on the track, and the second trial was very good.

"She just jumped out and did it by herself and [King] was rapt in her when she came back.

"I was a little worried she was a bit tired at the end, but [King] said she was great and that when another horse got up next to her pulling up she wanted to go again.

"She is one of those horses that we think is very good but you keep second-guessing yourself. I just want to see what she can do on Saturday."
