Ms Alexander was speechless when a social media campaign led to the safe return of her beloved Spike and Stripe on Thursday.

The grandmother was left devastated when her chooks were stolen by brazen thieves who were caught in the act on CCTV. 

Her daughter Tara Downing said one community member had found a frightened Spike running around the street and reached out to the police who contacted Ms Alexander. Ms Downing and Ms Alexander believe Spike had been dyed by her thief.

“My chickens are like children to me. I just want to thank everyone who helped me find them.”
