Detectives were called to Howe Street, Miners Rest at 1.45pm on Monday after a shot was fired through the window of the house.
Neither the four-month-old baby or the 34-year-old man were injured during the lunchtime shooting.
Police have labelled the shooting a “firearms incident”.
Police are continuing their investigations to determine what type of weapon was used and why the incident occurred.
