Thieves stole about $2000 worth of gear, including four specially fitted saddles, from the Haddon School Road clubroom.
Rider Ally Reidy had hoped to go for her first ride since March last year.
“The windows have been smashed, doors have been kicked down, all to get access to these saddles,” Ms Reidy said.
“I haven’t been able to ride since I had my first child so to be able to get back into riding was huge for me, especially with a horse I trust and a horse I know backwards and forwards.”
Ms Reidy had picked up her horse from Mount Gambier the same day her saddles were stolen.
“It limits us riding, it limits what we can do with our horses.
“I’d only just bought this bloke back home, he’s my riding horse.
“One of the saddles on their own are still selling at the moment for about $1000.
“We were sat there scratching our heads – who has a beef enough with us, to do it?”
DELVE INTO THE ARCHIVES:
Ms Reidy was contacted by another family on the same road who had almost $5000 worth of gear stolen nine years ago.
The burglary meant the owner’s 11-year-old daughter was unable to begin her pony classes.
