Melbourne screenwriter and filmmaker Natasha Pincus did just that with her celebrated film clip for Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know.”
The film clip, made by Ms Pincus in close collaboration with Wally de Backer in 2011, is the Number 15-most viewed video of all-time on YouTube.
Ms Pincus will be in Ballarat on Sunday February 5 Ballarat for a talk called Meet the Maker: An afternoon with Natasha Pincus, at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (M.A.D.E.).
Hosted by Michelle Dunn from With Camera in Hand, Ms Pincus will discuss the opportunities and challenges for artists in Ballarat, and how to capitalise on inspiration.
“I really wanted to kick of the new year in Ballarat with something really inspiring,” said Ms Dunn.
“Natasha’s story is incredible, and I think anyone who is interested in DSLR’s, filmmaking, creativity, or even someone thinking about ditching a career to follow a passion, will get a lot out of it.”
“I want to talk with people about their artistic processes,” said Ms Pincus.
Natasha Pincus started out with first class honours degrees in law and science, made the move to follow her passion in filmmaking - a punt that has well and truly paid off.
Her award-winning short films have screened at dozens of international film festivals and she is currently working on a new US feature film, adapting the Pulitzer Prize finalist novel The Snow Child.
Ms Pincus is probably most well known for her distinctive music videos for Australian artists, including Missy Higgins, Paul Kelly, Sarah Blasko, Powderfinger and of course Gotye.
The discussion will take place between 2 and 5pm, and the cost is $25 plus bf. More at www.withcamerainhand.com.au
