Jacob Werts, a junior product and two-time runner-up senior best and fairest with the Lakies, has agreed to an assistant coaching position with Donald.
Werts has moved to that region for his work as a school teacher and will play with the North Central Football League club.
He is a past Central Highlands interleague representative and has been with the North Ballarat Roosters’ VFL list during the past few years, playing nine senior and 15 reserves matches. He is not part of the Roosters’ program in 2017.
Werts’ departure will leave a hole in a Learmonth side now under the care of senior coach Steve Biggin.
Biggin, who previously coached the club in the mid-2000s, has returned to the helm occupied by playing leader Brenton Powell last year.
Learmonth is set to open its new campaign with a home clash against Waubra on Sunday, April 2.
