Originally set at six sides, BCA operations officer Greg Wakeling confirmed two more had been registered for the 13/under competition.
A team from Ballarat High School has jumped on board, while Mt Clear has locked in a second outfit.
Other clubs involved include Ballarat-Redan, Golden Point, Coronet City, East Ballarat and Wendouree.
Victoria Park will host the matches, with all games to be played from 5pm on Fridays.
Teams are to feature seven players each and matches will be played under the Twenty20 format.
Players and parents from the registered clubs were on hand at Eastern Oval on Tuesday afternoon for the official launch of the new competition.
BCA president Rob Florence said the time is right for the association to launch the girls-only grade and believes the 13/under age group is a good place to begin.
“With the hype that’s happening with all women’s sport, it’s just an ideal time,” Florence told The Courier.
“These young girls are seeing all that and have obviously got ambitions to go to the level they want to go to and this is a good starting point.”
Florence said a goal down the track is to establish a BCA women’s team in the Victorian Premier Cricket league.
