Now they are raising funds for a local organisation that has provided them with much needed support during the difficult time.
“Kristy (who is founder of Survivors of Suicide) came and helped us and our kids after our sister passed away,” Emma Hussey said.
“We went out to her horses and did some equine therapy, which was really beautiful, and we just want to try and give back.”
The pair is hosting a garage sale on Saturday with proceeds going towards Survivors of Suicide.
The aim is to raise at least $500 in donations for the organisation.
“It is something that is really needed in this town and we should be doing anything we can to support it,” Ms Hussey said.
“I’m sure it could help many other people as somewhere to turn to.
“And hopefully people that are feeling the way our sister felt, it will prevent people from doing the same thing.”
There will be a large variety of items for sale including adult and kids clothing, kitchenware, shoes, jewellery and sporting gear.
The garage sale takes place on Saturday, February 11, at 7 Semillion Grove, Mount Clear, from 10am.
