Fresh to strong and gusty northerly winds ahead of a milder, fresh southwesterly change entering the west of the state in the afternoon are expected.
The change will reach the central districts by the evening.
Severe fire danger is forecast for the following forecast districts: Mallee, northern country, north central, north east, south west and central
CFA Chief officer Steve Warrington said emergency services would be on standby to respond to any fire that starts.
“Grasslands again around the west of Melbourne are a concern for us as well as the entire western corner of the state,” he said.
“The grass is dry, so under conditions like those tomorrow, fast moving fires are possible.
“Although it’s not going to be superhot, wind tomorrow and the dry change means there’s potential for fires.”
