The festival will be held on a Mafeking property, south of Moyston, next month. Mr Teuma said it was about showcasing what the Grampians region had to offer but he also wanted local communities, particularly those in Moyston and Willaura, to feel a part of this.

The festival will feature a wide spectrum of electronic music, including live DJs and big international acts, and has attracted a large overseas audience with registrations from across Europe, Africa, North America and Asia.

Mr Teuma said money raised in the festival would be invested in community grants across Moyston and Willaura. He had also been working with locals to run an onsite barbecue – breakfast, lunch and dinner for the five-day festival – and has a policy to use local vendors and local producers first.

“I’ve spent a lot of time in the Grampians and when I was looking for a site, ideally you want a nice view,” Mr Teuma said.

“Backing on to a national park is good...Also from the first conversations, we wanted to benefit the local community.”

A key part of the Pitch social media strategy has been to promote the Grampians region, including Ararat, Halls Gap and Dunkeld. It is a strategy Mr Teuma hoped would encourage festival-goers to arrive a little early, linger a little longer or consider a return trip to the region.

This is the first major event in western Victoria for the Melbourne-based Mr Teuma and his team, who have been behind the Let Them Eat Cake boutique electronic music festival at Werribee Mansion and Beyond the Valley in Gippsland.

Mr Teuma said their point of difference to other major music festivals in this region was in being a family-friendly event and a big variety of ‘glamping’ camping options.

“This has been on the cards for a long time and we knew it would be a big endeavour,” Mr Teuma said.

“I wanted to merge my interests – outdoors and music. This year was the right time with the right place.”
