Along with Booktown in May, this weekend will see the start of the Four Seasons Music Festival in Clunes and Creswick.
Featuring music from a variety of backgrounds, the festival runs from February to October, highlighting music to suit the seasonal shifts.
The festival will be performed in two Anglican churches: St John’s in Creswick and St Paul’s in Clunes.
This Saturday will see The Little Brass Band of Ballarat take to the stage in St John’s to perform their blend of instrumental and vocal melodies and harmonies. The members include Frank Dyer on trumpet, Roger Clark on flugelhorn, Janice Ballinger on french horn, Mark Witham on trombone and Allan Williamson on tuba.
On Sunday the church will play host to Trillo, a quartet of young musicians whose passion is for early music, including the medieval and baroque.
Dylan Quinlan-Baskett, Alexandra Bailliet-Joly, Michaela Murphy and Evlambia Vafiadis are students at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. Between them they play organ, cello, harpsichord, recorder and also compose music.
“This music uplifts the human spirit, body and mind,” says Tim Fischer.
“I strongly commend it.”
The Saturday concert begins at 7pm and Sunday’s at 2pm. Tickets may be purchased at the door, subject to availability.
