St Pat’s thought it had secured the title on Sunday when it put a space between itself and four rivals – Ballarat Grammar School, Ballarat High School, Ballarat Clarendon College and Damascus College.
However, Ballarat Associated Schools ordered that the event be rerun after the St Pat’s cox weighed in under the required minimum weight.
St Pat’s never looked in danger in what would have been its first win in the firsts 2000m event since 2010. It had finished third in each of its six previous attempts.
