The basketball community will swell by more than 1000 with an influx of players, coaches, officials and family members for Ballarat’s annual Labour Day long weekend senior tournament.

Tournament manager Mark Valentine said the premier division had the biggest growth in the three-day event, which began on Saturday, having to be split into two divisions.
One will cater for youth teams.
Valentine said metropolitan and country Big V teams were using the tournament as part of their pre-season programs.
“It’s almost a country versus city challenge, with Shepparton, Melton and Ballarat taking on Collingwood, Keysborough, Werribee and Westernport across the divisions.”
Former masters champion Has Beens, which features newly retired NBL players, has entered men’s A grade in preparation for the World Masters Games in Auckland in April.
Games will be played at the Minerdome, Ken Kay Badminton Stadium, and Wendouree Sports and Events Centre on Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am, with grand finals on Monday from 10am.
