Jaidyn Graham, Aaron Miler, Liam Carroll and Cody Reed offered to grind and file the broken edges of the barbecue’s panelling and then added fresh coats of paint.
VET building and construction teacher Stephen Hamm said the students’ efforts had made the facility safe again and free of rust.
“There are some good kids in the community wanting to help, there are not just the ones that want to do damage,” he said.
“It is something that is very beneficial for the kids and the community. For the kids, it gives them a bit of an insight and they can walk past and have a bit of pride in it.”
As a thank you, the Buninyong Mt Helen Lions Club put on a barbecue.
Mount Clear College is currently on the look out for community projects for their students. Those with ideas are encouraged to make contact with the school.
