Werribee City continued the Navy Blues’ woes with a 2-0 win in a round four tie at Morshead Park on Saturday night.
An unchanged Ballarat line-up had as much possession as Werribee in a sometimes heated encounter, but as has become the norrm it could not capitalise in attack.
Although Ballarat had numerous promising build-ups it was unable to get any clear shots on goal as the visitors shut down the space.
Werribee always looked the most likely to score and ultimately it did by pouncing on 57 minutes with a chip over goalkeeper Josh Dorron after Ballarat had looked livelyfor an extended period after half-time and 68 minutes from a corner – leaving City FC shattered.
Josh Romein and Daniel Tinker stood firm at the back for Ballarat, while Michael Trigger was prominent up forward.
