Christopher Durek appeared briefly before the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Thursday via videolink from the Melbourne Metropolitan Remand Centre.
Durek is facing 13 charges, including negligently causing serious injury, relating to the November 25 incident which occurred in Service Street, Clunes.
It is alleged Durek struck two cars in the street, leaving his teenage passenger trapped for more than two hours while emergency services worked to free him.
Durek then allegedly fled the scene.
The male passenger was treated by paramedics from 12.30am to 2.30am before he was freed from the vehicle and flown to the The Alfred hospital in Melbourne.
Durek is also facing a number of other charges relating to counterfeit money.
Durek's lawyer, Manny Brennan, said aspects of the charges relating to the counterfeit money were currently being disputed and requested the matter be adjourned to contest mention on May 4.
The matters related to the crash, which were almost resolved, were also adjourned to the same date.
