Dr Srivastava received an Order of Australia Medal this year for her contribution, particularly in her work highlighting the importance and complexities in doctor-patient communication.
The author and braodcaster will be guest speaker for a Grampians Integrated Cancer Service public event in Ballarat on Friday evening.
GICS strategic director Joanne Gell said Dr Srivastava’s specialty would really help break down barriers across the region’s health services.
“When I talk to people who are affected by cancer, I am always struck by how much value they place on the relationship and communication with their doctor,” Ms Gell said.
“When we look at ideas to improve services, consumers usually talk about better ways health professionals can relate to and communicate with patients or clients.”
The event is at Ballarat Yacht Club, 5.30pm. Tickets: gics.com.au or phone 5320 4782.
