Having wowed crowds at White Night in Melbourne, Mana Moto are preparing to play in their hometown.
The backdrop for their unique sound is built over voice, electric violin and guitar, producing a soulful and moody sound rich in nuance and space.
Dreamy vocals and haunting guitar are layered with string harmonies and melodies, creating an atmospheric and emotive sound.
Incorporating heartfelt flamenco inspired original folk tunes and loop-based “atmospheric immersions”, Mana Moto take you on a journey from the earth to the ethereal. Having honed their craft playing in eclectic Melbourne bands in the 1990s, the duo continues to write and play original music. Influences include the Dirty Three, Felix Lajko and Nina Simone.
Thursday, Angie and the Doc @ Horvat’s Supper Club
These guys play folkgrass – a cross-over genre which takes from acoustic folk and contemporary bluegrass. The accent is on melody and a deep respect for traditional country music. Underpinned by Doc’s finger-picking skills and Angie’s driving acoustic bass, this duo has made a name for itself with distinctive, strong harmony singing inspired by the duo’s mutual love for Southern gospel.
