Police are appealing for witnesses who saw a male aged between 15-17 years-old steal a 2016 Mitsubishi Triton ute from a Wendouree West Reserve last Thursday.
A surveyor, who was working at the reserve off Holly Grove and Ring Road, had parked his car on the track at 11.30am.
WHERE THE CAR WAS STOLEN
The ute contained expensive surveying equipment and the car alone currently retails above $40,000.
The teenager was seen driving off in the ute before he stopped to pick up another male in Holly Grove.
He then drove the erratically on the Ring Road and travelled north on Creswick Road towards Creswick.
The vehicle was found burnt-out two days later. Some of the surveying equipment was located at the Dean Reservoir in Bullarook.
WHERE THE EQUIPMENT WAS FOUND
Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle and the occupants on March 23.
Anyone with information should contact Senior Constable Oliver at the Ballarat Police Station on 5336 6000 or CrimeStoppers on 1800 333 000.
