Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Peter Blake said the front had already moved over Portland and would reach Ballarat between 5pm with 7pm, bringing with it a high chance of showers.
The bureau is predicting a maximum of only 15 degrees on Thursday, down from the summerlike 29 degrees we enjoyed on Monday.
Mr Blake said a series of chilly starts would follow, with a brisk 4.5 degrees on Friday morning and 5 degrees on Saturday morning.
And it won’t warm up too much, with the mercury expected to hover around 16 degrees for most of the weekend.
However, every cloud has a silver lining.
The bureau has forecast a maximum of 19 degrees on Monday and 22 degrees on Tuesday.
