Central Highlands Water will commence the works throughout the Ballarat supply system from early April.
Central Highlands Water general manager of customers and community, Paul Clark, said the maintenance works involve temporarily changing the method of disinfection used to treat water, in addition to routine flushing and cleaning of the water mains network.
“To ensure water mains remain in their best condition, we must carry out cleaning works at regular intervals to ensure we continue to supply high quality water to our customers,” Mr Clark said.
“As a result of these works, some customers may experience a slight difference in taste and odour. However, customers can be assured that water supplied through our network will continue to meet required drinking water standards and presents no risk to public health.”
Mr Clark said some customers may notice increased activity in their area as technicians work.
Hydrants in some locations may be operated during the operations.
