Three men are in hospital with gunshot wounds to the legs after they were shot about 11pm at the Bandidos' Weston Street, Brunswick base.

Anti-bikie Echo Taskforce is investigating the shooting.

Victoria Police Detective Senior Sergeant Nicholas Allwood said police believed the three men were standing out the front of the clubhouse when they were fired upon from a passing car.

He said more than five shots were fired from the car during the drive-by and police were still investigating how many people were in the car at the time of the shooting.

"We believe (gunshots were fired) from a vehicle in the street but inquiries are still continuing around that," he said.

He said police executed a search warrant at the clubhouse just before 3pm on Saturday.

Bikie club members were escorted from the clubhouse as police seized items including clothing from one of the victims and CCTV footage.

Detective Senior Sergeant Allwood said the victims were believed to either be members of the Bandidos' or associates of club members.

He said it was too early to determine whether the attack had been executed by a rival bikie gang.

"We know it was a targeted shooting but at this stage it's too early to determine what the motivation for it was," he said

He said the victims were yet to cooperate with police.

All three victims were known to police.

"Obviously it puts concerns around public safety, we don't like any type of shooting to take place, but the community can be reassured to a degree that this was a targeted shooting," he said.

The three men, aged in their 20s, 40s and 50s, were taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening wounds.

Ambulance Victoria spokesman John Mullen said one man was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and two men were taken to The Alfred hospital for treatment to leg wounds.

The trio remain in a serious but stable condition.

A passerby, who wanted to remain anonymous, said he and his girlfriend were walking home along Weston Street when they heard between four and six loud bangs.

"We weren't sure if they were gun shots or cars back firing," he said.

"We saw someone in exercise gear running towards the [Doherty's] gym who seemed to be aiding someone lying on the ground outside."
