Sharp-Paul and Paton, both originally from Ballarat and friends from school days, were closely followed by four other teams on 47 points – Lesa Gray and Kym Erbacher, Sue Howie and Maureen Mackin, Wendy Thomas and Liz McMurray, and Julie Ridley and Julie Gilmore.
The field consisted of 88 players with representation from many district clubs, including Kyneton, Lake Bolac, Barwon Heads, Riversdale and Warrnambool.
Ballarat Golf Club ladies sub-committee secretary Trina Jones said the day was a success with good atmosphere, weather and a mix of players who had made the effort to travel to the event.
“The good weather and the condition of the course contributed to the good scores on the day,” she said.
“The standard was high and the people who had only played here once or twice before seemed able to rise to the occasion.”
A luncheon followed a day of tough competition.
