The Cannons kicked a woeful 5.21 (51) as the Rebels piled on 20.11 (131).
The 1-3 start to the season replicates the Rebels start to last season and coach Gerard FitzGerald is hoping Sunday’s 80-point win can ignite their season once more.
“Last year we lost our first three and then won round four at Calder, so if that’s able to kick-start our year that’ll be nice,” FitzGerald said.
“Even though we’d had some early losses, we didn’t lose our way, we didn’t lose our faith or belief in where we thought we could go.”
FitzGerald was most pleased with his side’s work around the stoppage and it’s ability to damage the opposition forward of centre.

“We were a lot better at the stoppages and that’s something we’d been working hard on over the last week or two.
“Our clearance work was our best performance for the year.
“We also the penetrated the game forward of centre much better.
The playing group will join FitzGerald at the Anzac Day dawn service, a tradition FitzGerald has started with his players.
