Pears will miss the game with ankle trouble.
He will be replaced by new signing Tom Derickx, who like Pears carries six points as a player straight off an AFL list.
Melton South joint coach Sean Triplett confirmed that the addition of Derickx to a full-strength line-up would have taken the Panthers over their limit of 48 points.
They had 46 players points in their win over Sunbury on Good Friday.
Pears aggravated an ankle issue against Sunbury.
Triplett said he expected Pears to miss only one to two games.
Derickx makes his debut with Melton South against North City.
The former Richmond and Sydney Swans ruckman is planning to play a handful of games with the Panthers as mixes his football with his professional commitments as a model.
Triplett also confirmed spearhead Brendan Fevola had pulled up well after a one-off guest appearance with Rennie in the Picola and District league on Saturday.
He kicked seven goals as Rennie defeated Waaia by 73 points.
Triplett said Fevola only played three quarters and was right to back up on Tuesday.
Fevola has kicked 11 goals in two outings for the unbeaten Melton South, which is chasing a third win.
This will be North Ballarat City’s first game .
Coach Jordyn Burke has named recruits Will and Kal Young, Kal Young (Newlyn), and Nathan Dunstan (Donald), as well Ryan Hobbs and Jimmy Vanderkley, who are returning from long-term injuries.
The Anzac Day fixture completes the first home and away round, which has seen Lake Wendouree get over Redan with a goal after the final siren, Darley upset reigning premier Bacchus Marsh, Sunbury get on the board against Melton, and East Point and Ballarat play a draw.
