A decision on the future of the site has been delayed for three months to undertake additional consultation with the applicant. Placing development controls over the site will be considered as part of the rezoning request to protect the existing character of the area.
Cr Don Henderson said the site had been unused for many years and was a “bit of an eyesore”.
“Now we have an opportunity to see some new life breathed into that site,” he said.
“But I would like to see it developed to meet Trentham’s character.”
Cr Kate Redwood said the “important” site should be developed “carefully”.
