The Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Thursday heard the matter of Anthony Dixon, who was charged over the fatal collision, remained unresolved and would now proceed to a committal hearing in July.
The 27-year-old Creswick man will return to court on July 26 for the one-day hearing.
It is alleged Dixon was driving a Ford Telstar when it and a Toyota Hilux collided at the intersection of the Old Glenelg and Glenelg highways about 5pm on January 6.
A 17-year-old female passenger of the Telstar, who was from Scarsdale, died at the scene.
Dixon was airlifted to a Melbourne hospital with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
His injuries prevented him from attending his first court date, which was heard five days after the crash.
Dixon was charged with dangerous driving causing death, evading police, failing to obey a give way sign and unlicensed driving.
On Thursday Dixon's lawyer, Manny Brennan, told the court a number of witnesses who are alleged to have seen the crash occur are expected to be cross examined during the committal hearing in July.
Expert witnesses, including the police informant, will also give evidence.
Magistrate Belinda Wallington bailed Dixon to reappear in court for a committal hearing on July 26.
