The nine-player side is made up of players from five clubs – Learmonth (3 players), Springbank (2), Beaufort (2), Dunnstown and Bungaree.
Despite the great turnout, O’Keefe was mindful of the challenge of getting the team to jell.
“It’s really important to try and be involved in interleague. I strongly believe our league has a lot to offer standard-wise so it’s really important to get some of the best players across the league to come together,” O’Keefe said.
“It’s one of those things. That’s why we push a fair few training sessions before we start.
“A team of champions doesn’t always necessarily make a champion team.
“I’m pretty comfortable with it...it was a really even mix of positions with players that were trialing.
“To have a high calibre of players come together is always great, but getting them to play as a well-drilled unit - that takes a little bit of time.”
The team will play May 13.
