CHFL head coach Clive Raak said Murphy will join captain Jarrod Morgan (midfield) and Mark Gunnell (backline) as on-field leaders in the clash against the Southern league on Saturday, May 13.
Raak also revealed Beaufort pair Lee Marshall and Tom Stapleton have been added to the training squad, as has Springbank defender Sam Cue.
The Highlanders, which lost to Geelong and District by four points last season, had their first training session for the year last Sunday and are set to meet next on Wednesday, May 3.
The final CHFL team for the AFL Victoria Community Championships clash – hosted by the Southern league – won’t be revealed until the Thursday before the game.
