Peace is putting the finishing touches to his preparation after having a knee reconstruction last year.
He said he was close to playing, but wanted to be sure he was right.
With a break for the AFL Victoria Community Championship on May 13 and a bye on May 27, Peace said if he did make a return against North Ballarat City next Saturday he could ease himself with a game every two weeks for a month.
Peace said next round was a possibility, but he would wait on making a decision.
Peace tore an anterior cruciate ligament pre-season with Torquay last year.
He is back with Redan this season, already having the distinction of being a two-time Lions premiership coach and three-time premiership player. Peace last played with Redan in 2014. He spent 2015 overseas before last year’s injury.
Peace is hoping to lead Redan to its first win of the season against East Point at the City Oval on Saturday after a five-point loss to Lake Wendouree.
Pat Britt is back for the Lions, but they lose Nick Willox, who kicked five goals against Lakers.
