Deputy vice-chancellor Professor Todd Walker will join the board of the oldest and largest regional art gallery in Australia.
Established in 1884 as the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, both the building and part of its collection is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register and by the National Trust of Victoria.
Professor Walker said he was honoured and delighted to become a board member of the art gallery.
“The Art Gallery of Ballarat is one of the nation’s leading regional art institutions,” he said.
“Its exhibitions and permanent collections attract visitors from throughout Victoria and Melbourne.
“I thank the board for this invitation, and as a new board member I look forward to adding to the art gallery’s regional engagement and forging even closer with links with FedUni’s Arts Academy, which is situated just a short walk from the gallery in central Ballarat.”
Professor Walker will start his time on the board on May 29.
