Run by English dramatist Kerry Frampton, the day-long workshops challenged the attendees to “win and fail with grace”. Attendees were also asked to choose a ruler to embody, with one teenager choosing Jesus Christ, Frampton said.
Frampton is artistic director of theatre and education company Splendid Productions.
“In the UK the education system is about getting things right or wrong and getting the right answer but when you’re making theatre you don’t know what works or doesn’t work until you do it so a lot of it is about getting them to take a risk and to know that if they fall, that’s ok because everyone has got them,” Frampton said.
“It’s about winning and failing with grace and knowing it’s ok to make mistakes.
The youth theatre workshop was followed by one for amateur adult performers on Sunday.
