Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute will announce a significant boost, believed to be a seven-figure sum, in a special function on Friday morning.
Funds will help allow research program expansions at the Institute, which is a non-government funded organisation.
Proudly homegrown, the Institute relies on community support.
The annual Reach4Research Ballarat Cycle Classic has generated about $1.4 million for the Institute the past decade.
FECRI has eight senior scientific staff, led by honourary director George Kannourakis, and eight PhD students from Federation University.
Key research projects include: identifying potential new immunotherapy targets for ovarian cancer; identifying a new immune cell subset in histiocytic disorders; further immune studies in various cancer and leukaemia; and, identifying a new method for isolating new viruses.
