The Rebels have won its past two matches to move to 2-3, but it has gained wins over two sides that only boast one victory between them in 2017. The Chargers bode as the group’s toughest challenge yet.
Coach Gerard FitzGerald said this week would provide a good gauge of where it sits against a top side, he felt that after five weeks of the year, the group was now beginning to execute its systems more effectively.
“We’ve been beating sides around us, this week we play a side that’s 3-2 distinct to us at 2-3,” FitzGerald said.
“We reckon we’ve made sufficient progress to be able to challenge against those sides now...I think it’s a challenge we’re better equipped for now than we were three weeks ago.”
GWV Rebels has had to manage many of the players work loads given school football commitments this week. This week’s side will see three players make their TAC Cup debut – Ethan McLaren, Jake Lohmann and Luke Bull.
