Fyfe isn't going anywhere. The Saints have stopped trying to lure Fyfe because he has made it clear he wants to stay at Fremantle. And as Ross Lyon said this week, he is confident of keeping the Brownlow Medallist because "possession is nine-tenths of the law".

There are already reports North Melbourne have offered Kelly a nine-year, $9 million contract to move from GWS.

Is Kelly as good as Fyfe? Not at the moment, but Kelly is very talented, has exquisite skills and is one of the best young guns at GWS.

And Kelly's dad, Phil - a dual Sandover Medallist with East Perth - played 60-odd games with North Melbourne so he has a strong connection to the club.

I don't know where Fitzi (Brad Fitzgerald, co-host of the 'Carmen & Fitzi' program on 96FM) got his information from about Fyfe but I don't think he understands how the restricted free agency works, because the Dockers have the right to match any potential offers made by the Saints.

And even if the Saints did offer Fyfe $1.5 million a year, Fremantle can match it.

Aaron Sandilands, Michael Johnson and a few others won't be at the club in a few years and Fremantle will clean out some of the 'dead wood' so the Dockers will have plenty of room in their salary cap.

And a little memo to Fyfe: I know he's still getting back to playing his best footy, but he's not playing as good as Patrick Dangerfield, Dusty Martin or Rory Sloane at the moment, so Fremantle might not even offer him $1.2 million a year.

All this talk about Fyfe being linked to two other Victorian clubs and even one non-Victorian club is rubbish.

The AFL would love for Fyfe to go north to Queensland to either the Gold Coast or Brisbane, but like I've said before Fyfe doesn't want to go to a bottom four club.

Fyfe wouldn't fit into Sydney's salary cap because it has Kurt Tippett and Buddy Franklin and he wouldn't fit into Adelaide.

Hawks could afford Fyfe, but the way the club is going at the moment he wouldn't want to go there.

Over the last 10 years players have different justifications for leaving a club: Gary Ablett went to Gold Coast not to win a premiership, but for the money. Some players take a salary cut in the hope of winning a premiership at a club.

Fyfe wants to win a flag and believe it or not Fremantle is better placed than some of the clubs he is linked too.

Meanwhile, Fremantle were pitiful against the Eagles last weekend - from the top, including Lyon, down to the bottom. Fremantle should have been ready for that and you don't have to be a genius to see the Eagles were going to come out firing given all the criticism thrown at them after the Hawks' loss. The game was all over after 15 minutes.

It's still not any clearer how good the Eagles are, but playing Port Adelaide this week will be a good test. The Eagles have a good record in Adelaide, particularly against Port, but they have been up and down over the last couple of years.
