Coach Annie McCartin described a practice match against Central Highlands last week as ideal preparation.
“It was a wonderful and innovative idea because you gain valuable information on your combinations,” she said.
“I was always changing the girls to see what combinations clicked and we could also work on our set plays and try different ideas.”
McCartin said experience would be a factor on Saturday with a lot of the team having played interleague before.
“Because these girls are so talented and bring their own expertise to their position, all we have to do is gel on the day and get that combination right,” she said.
“Once we do that, I feel that we will be very hard to beat.”
McCartin said not knowing the opposition’s squad was difficult, especially when determining match ups.
“It is a different experience for the coaches and players because it is a little bit of the unknown,” she said.
But McCartin said there was plenty of excitement among the players ahead of the match.
“We couldn’t have a match last year so these girls can’t wait to get out there and represent the BFNL,” she said.
“They are normally playing against one another, so it’s great to be able to come together as a team because they all have a lot of respect for one another.”
McCartin said the experience would provide some wonderful memories down the track and representing the league was a great achievement.
Sunbury’s Ash Hardy could not be considered owing to injury.
