For some of the families it was not their first child, but the births will provide a special memory to share with their new sons and daughters when they are older.
Jess Shaw and Jack Morton welcomed their son Archie who was born at 12.55pm.
It marked the end of a long day after Ms Shaw went into labour at 1am on Sunday.
She said she was anxious to start with but it was a very special occasion.
“I will always remember it and tell him he was born on Mother’s Day,” she said.
“My mum came into the hospital for the birth as well, so it was special.”
Archie was expected to be born on Wednesday, but instead provided the perfect Mother’s Day for his parents at his birth.
Ms Shaw was one of three mums that gave birth at Ballarat Base Hospital during the day.
Another two women were also a chance to give birth at St John of God Hospital, while a fourth was expected at Ballarat Base Hospital, before The Courier went to print.
Emily Hutchins had her second child and first daughter Nell at 4.36am.
Two-year-old son Logan and father Jason were both at the hospital to meet the newest family member.
Ms Hutchins said she was relieved and excited following the birth.
“It was pretty tiring today,” she said.
“Logan is still a bit unsure at the moment, but I think he will be a good big brother.”
