Experts waxed lyrical about Ballarat’s rich brewing history, while revelers tasted the latest offerings from favourite brewers, including Cubby Haus, Red Duck and Athletic Club.
Aiming to celebrate all things beer, an exhibition will remain on display at the institute for Ballarat Heritage Weekend over May 27-28.
Organiser Amy Tsilemanis, who has a penchant for a darker drop, was rapt with attendance numbers. “Everyone had such a great time, and it’s a real mix of history and contemporary action.”
Federation University's head lecturer in brewing, Peter Aldred, will host a talk on the science of beer in the Humffray Room at the BMI, in Sturt Street, on Thursday. Doors open 6pm.
Up to 40 students complete the popular Diploma of Brewing at the university each year, which Dr Aldred described as extremely competitive.
