Duke was a member of the city’s German shepherd club and had joined other dogs in Ballarat’s Anzac Day March in April.
He died of cancer 10 days ago before he had the opportunity to join the Millions Paws Walk at Victoria Park.
Owners Lee Crawley and Georgia Brennan have been long-time supporters of housing rescued dogs.
They joined the walk with their other dog Coxie and their family.
Georgia’s mother Le-anne O’Brien said it was a good way to support the RSPCA and remember Duke.
”We had talked about doing the walk with Duke and Coxie because they are a big supporters of the RSPCA,” she said.
“So when he passed away we thought it would be nice to walk in his honour.”
