Forty years ago on Thursday, the first movie A New Hope was released and Star Wars fans in Ballarat and around the world will celebrate the milestone.
The force will be strongest at Suttons House of Music where self-confessed Star Wars nerds Luke Tonkin and Sophie Livitsanas will host a giant costumed Star Wars trivia night.
“The funniest thing is the fact we didn’t even realise it was the 40th anniversary on May 25 until someone pointed it out. We run a trivia night on the fourth Thursday of every month,” Mr Tonkin said.
Hours have been spent gathering Star Wars sound effects, music, trivia, games and, most importantly, costumes and props.
So many Star Wars fans have got their costumes out and honed their trivia knowledge for the night that a second Star Wars trivia night on Friday had to be scheduled after the actual anniversary night sold out.
