A man was airlifted to the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne following a collision between a motorcycle and a car on the Ballarat-Daylesford Road at Gong Gong on Monday evening.
The motorcyclist was in a critical condition with severe head and leg injuries after the accident about 6.15pm.
Another man and a young child travelling in the car were in a stable condition and taken to Ballarat Base Hospital.
Emergency services initially had difficulty finding a location for Ambulance Victoria’s helicopter to land due to tree cover.
But eventually the air-wing rushed to the scene and flew the motorcyclist to Melbourne.
Ballarat police from the Major Collisions Unit confirmed they are investigating the accident.
The road was closed while police collected evidence.
