The Art Gallery of Ballarat will host a torchlight tour to discuss how it grew from a small vision to the regional centre it is today.
Tours will leave hourly from 9pm to 12am on Saturday night with tickets costing $10.
Ballarat City mayor Samantha McIntosh said the city’s history had some eerie aspects that were already explored by tourist companies.
”It is about celebrating what we have got - the built form of the city reflects the gold rush history of Ballarat – beyond that there is the social and cultural history our community loves and wants to share,” she said.
“Usually 15,000 people are here over the weekend, our streets come alive and the old buildings are opened.”
Cr McIntosh said there were lots of activities available, including a whodunnit mystery for children.
