The Darren Weir-trained colt looked like being frustrated for a run halfway down the home straight, but charged home once jockey Brad Rawiller found a gap to quickly rein in the leaders.
Rockstar Rebel ($1.70) had almost a length to spare on jumper Western Kingdom in the OTI Benchmark70 Handicap, 2200m.
The colt is one of six nominations for Weir in the group 1 $600,000 three-year-old classic to be run at Eagle Farm on June 10.
Rockstar Rebel was part of a treble for Weir, who took his season’s tally of winners to 375 as he closes in on 400.
He also saluted with Holy Seal ($3.80) in the Bond Homes Two-Year-Old Handicap, 1000m, and Approved Anger ($4.50) in the Hygain Benchmark70 Handicap, 1400m.
Jockey Brad Rawiller had a double on Rockstar Rebel and Approved Anger, while Caulfield/Warrnambool trainer Ciaron Maher also had a double.
