In what has been a difficult start to the season, Ballarat Skoda Rush is still looking for its first win after seven straight losses.

Rush coach David Flint said a common theme for the team had been starting strongly, but falling away in the second half of matches.

He said a winless start impacted everyone from the players and coaches to the club itself, which added to the “huge” mental challenge.

But the side would focus on what was within its control, including training and its effort on court.

The team is bolstered by the return of Joy Burke, who missed two matches last weekend to attend a friend’s wedding in the United States.

Ashleigh Spencer stepped up in Burke’s absence with big scores in both games and looks to continue the good form this weekend.
