Dal Santo traveled to Hepburn for training and will be back again on Saturday for the Central Highlands Football League blockbuster against Beaufort.
Burras coach Jason Olver said while Dal Santo’s upcoming game is an exciting occasion for the club, the former elite onballer is well aware of how important the match is in the context of Hepburn’s season.
“He has tracked us all season,” Olver said.
“He knew we lost a couple early on and knows we’ve come good over the last four weeks.
“He’s fully aware of how important this game is for us.”
The Burras had a poor start to the new season, but have fought their way back up the table with important wins against Gordon, Buninyong, Ballan and Dunnstown in recent weeks.
That has lifted the side to sixth on the ladder, three spots behind the Crows.
Olver said Dal Santo would be used as an on-field coach on Saturday and hoped to learn plenty from the AFL 300-gamer.
Dal Santo, a three-time All-Australian, has joined Hepburn this season through a connection with the Burras’ recruit Luke Stanton, who is his cousin.
